Grief Support for Organisations
Someone in your organisation is grieving right now.
Maybe they’ve told you. Maybe they haven’t.
They’re logging on, teaching the class, covering the shift, hitting deadlines, and quietly carrying something enormous. Or they’re calling in sick because, that morning, they just can’t face putting the mask on.
What if they didn’t feel they had to wear it at all?
I work with businesses, schools, charities, NHS and public sector teams to create places where grief can be spoken about, supported and understood. Your people feel seen, and the managers, leaders and teachers looking after them feel confident doing it.
About me:
I’m Rachel Hart-Phillips, a certified holistic grief coach and founder of Afterglow. I was widowed at 36, pregnant, having already lost both my parents. I know what it takes to keep going when your whole world has stopped, and how much difference the right support around you can make.
I’m Good Grief UK accredited (IPHM & ACCPH) and ASIST trained.
Why it matters:
Grief doesn’t stay at home. It shows up as brain fog, missed emails, a short fuse, or a sudden need to leave the room.
Left unsupported, grief can lead to burnout, long-term absence and good people leaving. Young people can withdraw, act out, or fall behind, and the adults around them aren’t sure how to help.
Most people want to help. They just don’t know what to say, so they often say nothing. With the right knowledge and support, that can change.
How I can help:
1:1 grief coaching
A confidential space for anyone navigating loss, whether it’s a recent bereavement, an anniversary that’s knocked them sideways, or grief they’ve carried for years. We work at their pace, on what they actually need to keep going.
Grief education for managers and leaders
Practical guidance on what to say (and what not to), return-to-work conversations, flexible adjustments, and spotting when someone is struggling. Confident leaders create teams where people feel safe being human.
Supporting grieving young people
Training for teachers, support staff and pastoral teams on how grief affects children and teenagers, what helps, and how to respond when a pupil is bereaved, so no young person goes through it unnoticed.
Grief first aider training
Equipping chosen team members to be a first point of contact, so grief is met with compassion rather than awkward silence.
Whole-organisation workshops, talks and sessions
Opening up the conversation about loss across your workplace or school. Grief touches everyone eventually, so understanding it is good for all of us.
Lunch and learns
Bite-sized, accessible sessions that fit into the working day and start important conversations without the pressure.
Who I work with:
Businesses of every size, schools and colleges, charities, NHS and public sector teams. Whether you’re a small team of ten or a large organisation, the support is shaped around your people.
How it works:
Remote, or in person across the North West. Always tailored to your organisation and your people.
Speaking:
I also speak at conferences, events, schools and on podcasts, sharing my story and what I’ve learned about living with grief, finding light again, and how workplaces and communities can show up for people who are hurting. If you’d like to book me as a speaker, just mention it in the enquiry form.
Let’s talk about your people
“Rachel joined us as a guest speaker at the North West Suicide Prevention Conference, powered by The Martin Gallier Project, delivering an incredibly powerful, open and honest talk that was both inspiring and thought provoking.
Rachel has a natural ability to connect with an audience through her warmth, authenticity and honesty. Her professionalism and genuine passion shone through, and we are still receiving wonderful feedback from attendees about the impact of her talk. It was an absolute pleasure to have her as part of our conference.”
